Albert Wayne "Pete" Anderson, age 76, passed away peacefully Wednesday, June 1, 2022 at home surrounded by his family. He was born on March 21, 1946 in Nash County, North Carolina. He was preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Nona Daughtridge Anderson; and siblings, Kay Anderson, Timmy Anderson, Randy Anderson, Junior "JR" Anderson, Ann Joyner, Dee Ezzell, and Frances Peele.

He is survived by a loving family including his wife of 56 years, Veda Proctor Anderson; daughter, Sara Anderson Avery and husband, Daniel of Rocky Mount; granddaughters, Allie, Emery, and Lila Avery; brother, James Anderson and wife, Sally of Nashville; and sister, Alice Boyce of Battleboro.

Pete worked for twenty-three years on the railroad as a yardmaster. After leaving the railroad, he kept busy by building houses, tinkering on various machines and CB radios, as well as spending time with his family. He was a hard-working man who knew the value of labor. In his free time, he liked to hunt, fish, play golf, and was affectionately known as "245" to his CB radio buddies. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.

A graveside memorial service will be held on Monday, June 6, 2022 at 11:00am at Proctor Family Cemetery, Cokey Road, Rocky Mount, NC 27801. The family will receive friends immediately following the service.
