Alma Jones Hollowell Groover, age 88, passed away Tuesday, July 30, 2019 at Vidant Edgecombe Hospital in Tarboro.

She was born June 1, 1931 in Edgecombe County to Argusta B. and Martha Ellen Jones. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by husbands, John R. Hollowell and Robert Groover; sisters, Katherine Sutherland and Martha Mewborn; and grandson, Adam Bridgers. She leaves a loving family that includes three children, John Stafford Hollowell (Bonnie) of White Lake, Lynda H. Gardner (John) of Battleboro, and Pamela Hollowell Manning (Henry Phillips) of Pinetops; and brother, Bryant Jones (Donna) of Whitakers. She was especially proud of her seven grandchildren: Chrystal Outland (Tim McGloskey) of Evergreen, NC, Candace Smith (Mark) of Lumberton, Cassidy Fisk (Jared) of Okinawa, Japan, Shannon Juroska (Blane) of Temple, TX, Kimberly Bridgers of Newport, NC, and Emily and Johnathan Manning of Battleboro. She also leaves twelve great-grandchildren, and a host of family friends and extended relatives.

Graveside services will be held at 11:00 am, Thursday, August 1 at Whitakers Cemetery, Whitakers, NC. The family will receive friends immediately following the service.
