Rocky Mount –

Andy Richard Vick, age 69, died on September 1, 2024 after a period of declining health. He was the son of Spencer Vick and Bonnie Williams Vick, both of whom preceded him in death. As a young man, he served his country honorably in the United States Navy. He treasured his experiences and travels associated with his service. Later in life, he worked for RBC Bank in Rocky Mount until PNC bought RBC. He then had the opportunity to work for RBC Bank, Georgia, an online only bank in Raleigh. He retired in January, 2017 after twenty plus years in the banking industry.

An unassuming man, he never sought credit or attention for himself. He much preferred for others to be in the spotlight. Andy was thoughtful, loved a challenge and seldom got into a hurry. His personality was easy going and laid back. At various stages of life, he enjoyed playing chess, flying a small engine plane solo, camping, white water rafting, photography and fishing. He was in awe of the solar system.

Born with a servant's heart, he helped countless family members, friends, neighbors and organizations in any way he could, never expecting anything in return.

Andy was a very good cook and a mediocre gardener. He enjoyed cooking for others and sharing fruits and vegetables that he grew. He had a keen sense of humor which was appreciated by those who knew him well.

Andy's love for animals began when he was a young boy and continued throughout his life. He was unconditionally loved by Prince, Sparky, Coco, Fracas, Midnight and others – although not at the same time.

He is survived by his wife, Gail Wester Vick and an adorable miniature cockapoo named Cody. Andy and Gail met in junior high school and were married for forty-eight years.

Andy did not want a visitation, funeral or memorial. He would be touched if friends and family remembered him from time to time under happier circumstances. He left this world too soon and will be sorely missed. May he rest in peace with the Lord forever.
