Ann Batts

Elizabeth Ann Britt Glover Batts passed peacefully on Friday, July 24, 2026. She was born the daughter of George Britt and Dorothy Chitty Britt on April 29, 1938. Growing up an only child in Murfreesboro, Ann enjoyed weekend beach trips with her parents to Lynnhaven in the Virginia Beach area. They would pitch a tent and spend their days swimming, fishing and enjoying family.

After her marriage to JW Glover in the mid 1950s, they moved to his hometown of Nashville, NC. Their only child, JW “Jim” Glover, Jr. was born in May of 1957. With the passing of her husband in 1972, Ann devoted herself to raising her son before finding love again. In April of 1990 with her marriage to Floyd Batts, Ann began a thirty-six year union filled with family, laughter, and travel.

Although predeceased by her sons, Jim Glover and Michael Batts, there are many left to cherish her memory. Her husband and best friend, Floyd Batts, was a loving and devoted partner dedicated to her happiness. Janice Gupton (Fenner) was long known to be her favorite sister-in-law who treated Ann yearly to her favorite made from scratch butter pecan birthday cake. Her daughter-in-law, Karen Bass Seawell, admired her strength and wicked sense of humor. Her children include Susan Sturgill, Hope Strickland, and Jamie Batts. She is also survived by twelve grandchildren - Jason, Haley, Casey, Adam, Molly, Rachel, Alex, Sarah, Mary, Caleb, Pierce, and Cole. In addition, she had twelve great-grandchildren: Kaitlyn, Trey, Griffin, Vivian, Selah, Shepherd, Korbin, August, Avery, McKinley, Allie and Whitfield. Her two great-great grandchildren are Kaylee Grace and Dallas Britt. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Sylvan Heights Bird Sanctuary or the Town of Nashville Parks and Recreation.

A Graveside Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 am, Tuesday, July 28, 2026 at Forest Hill Cemetery in Nashville, NC. The family will greet friends immediately following the service.
