Rocky Mount –

Arnold Wayne Manning, Sr., age 71, went home to be with his Lord and Savior Monday, June 9, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. His journey began in Edgecombe County on April 30, 1954, the only son of Bernice and Mary Carter Manning. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Shirley Gaither, Faye Etheridge and Rhonda Shearin.

He leaves a lifetime of precious memories for his wife of thirty-five years, Sharon Manning; sons, Arnold Wayne Manning, Jr., (Mary), Matthew Manning (Felicia) and Philip Manning (Stefanie), all of Rocky Mount; sister, Thelma Morgan (Jeff) of Delaware; special friends, Tim and Karen Cottrell and his furry recliner companion, Precious. Arnold will also be missed by several nieces, nephews, other extended relatives and his Ridgecrest Worship Center family.

Known as "Paw Paw", Arnold was especially proud of and adored his grandchildren, Dylan Manning (Becca), Iris Manning, Morgan Manning, Kaitlyn Manning, Ina Manning and Alec Manning; great-grandsons, Lucas Thomas and Finnley, due to join the family in November.

Arnold was the owner and operator of Arnold's Carpet and Tile Service in Rocky Mount for more than forty years. Despite his many health problems over the years, he persevered and overcame all obstacles he was presented with. His strength was truly commendable. One of Arnold's greatest passions was fishing; he cherished the moments spent on his boat, casting lines and spending time with whatever fishing buddy accompanied him that day. After a successful day on the water, he would return home with his catch, eager to prepare a meal for his family, where they would share stories and laughter about their adventures. Arnold was deeply grateful for the blessings in his life and the precious time he spent with his loved ones, always acknowledging the grace of God that made those moments possible.

A member of over thirty-five years at Ridgecrest Worship Center, Arnold loved the Lord and his church family. He instilled strong values and beliefs in his children and grandchildren, emphasizing the importance of faith and family. A devoted family man, his wife, children and grandchildren held a special place in his heart.

A beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend, Arnold will be missed by those who had the fortune to know him.

A service will be held at 4:00pm on Monday, June 16, 2025 at Ridgecrest Worship Center, 1120 West Mount Drive, Rocky Mount, NC 27803. The family will receive friends prior to the service beginning at 3:00pm and other times at the home.
