Pinetops -

With her loving family by her side, Barbara Webb Deal, age 75, passed away peacefully at her home Monday evening, June 17, 2024.  She was born in Edgecombe County on September 12, 1948, to James and Dorothy Craft Webb. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, James "Jamie" Garland Webb.

A beloved pillar of her family, Barbara leaves years of memories to be treasured for her devoted husband of almost fifty-seven years, Paul Allen Deal; children, Paula Deal Greenwaldt (Donnie) of Pinetops, Gina Deal McEwen (Todd) of Pinetops, and Brandon Allen Deal of Macclesfield; sisters, Terry Webb Krupinski of Smithfield, Va., Amy Webb Etheridge (Donnie) of Elm City; grandchildren, Morgan Reason Hardison (Thomas), Aaron Keith Reason (Haley), Lauren Reason Warrick (Shane), Macy Scott Daughtridge, Cody James Lancaster (Bailey), Stephanie Lancaster Holloman (Ryan), and Hannah Lancaster Harrison (Nicholas); ten great-grandchildren, with the eleventh (Baby Nathaniel) on the way; a special cousin whom she loved as a sister, Bonnie White (Raymond) of Edenton, along with her protective sidekick, Jake, and many family friends and other extended relatives.

Barbara's early life was spent on the family farm in Macclesfield. She was raised with a strong work ethic since everyone was expected to do their share of the farm work. She worked along with her cousins and grandparents who made the days more enjoyable. The skills learned on the farm were also useful in Barbara's career as a tax preparer at H&R Block. She was a dedicated, hard-working employee and later promoted to office manager. She enjoyed her coworkers and customers and continued working although her health was declining. Over the years, she made many life-long friends at Edgecombe Home Health and Hospice and H&R Block.

South Edgecombe was where she met and fell for her school sweetheart, Paul. They were later married and spent fifty-seven wonderful years together. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family and friends, but most especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Barbara's life was one of love and sacrifice in her many roles of wife, mother, sister, aunt, grandmother and MeMa. She loved us, taught us, and guided us with an unshakeable faith and commitment that will remain in our hearts and lives through the generations to come.

A service to celebrate Barbara's life will be held on Thursday, June 20, 2024, at 7:00PM, at Webb's Chapel Baptist Church, 2771 Webbs Chapel Road, Macclesfield, NC 27852. The family will begin receiving friends at 6:00PM and other times at the home.
