Bobby Davis Joyner, age 76, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, February 24, 2024, at his home surrounded by family. Born in Nash County, NC on September 16th, 1947, he was the son of Adolphus Lee Joyner and Lula Carter Joyner. He was also preceded in death by his siblings, Donald Joyner, George "Pee Wee" Joyner, and Richard Joyner.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 54 years, Becky Colbert Joyner; children, Bobby Scott Joyner (Rhonda) of Nashville, Bradley Davis Joyner (Brandy) of Nashville, Donna Joyner Mills (Allen) of Rocky Mount, and Matthew Thomas Joyner of Nashville; grandchildren; Caitlyn Quinn, Rhiannon Joyner, Dylan Joyner, Ryan Joyner, Cameron Mills, Jordan Mills, Logan Mills, Alyssa Joyner, and Aubrey Mills; step-grandchildren; Mark Allen Hatchel and David Shearin; five great-grandchildren with one on the way; and his siblings, Margery Wester (Bernice), William Joyner (Liz), Delilah Smith, and Judy Bunn (Mike); sister-in-law, Jean Waters (Charlie) and brother-in-law, John Colbert, Jr (Sheila).
Bobby attended Gospel Missionary Baptist Church in Rocky Mount. He was a former Supervisor at Fab-X Metals in Rocky Mount and was a master at sheet metal work. Afterwards, he opened his own business, Joyner's Repair Service, where he serviced equipment for many local restaurants. Bobby was always a people person and could talk to anyone, as he knew no strangers. He enjoyed music, dancing, and watching old TV shows and Western movies. Most importantly, he loved his wife, children, and grandchildren, and enjoyed spending time with them.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm, Thursday, February 29, 2024 at Gospel Missionary Baptist Church, with Rev. Allen Mills officiating. Burial will follow at the Wells Family Cemetery on Barnes Hill Church Rd. Visitation will be 6:00 - 8:00 pm, Wednesday evening, also at the church, and other times at the home.
