Bonita ‘’Bunt’’ Anthony Whitaker, age 60, passed away peacefully on Friday, July 3, 2026. She was born on February 15, 1960, in Tarboro, North Carolina, daughter of Jessie Mae Hyman and Fred Lee Anthony.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Henry Whitaker; son, Jermaine Bridges and siblings, Erma Clinton, Dolly Anthony, Fred Lee Anthony, Jr, Emanuel Anthony and Arthur Anthony.

Bonita enjoyed shopping and especially loved catching a great discount sale. She regularly frequented yard sales and thrift stores, looking for the best deals. She also enjoyed having meaningful conversations, writing, and giving good advice.

Above all, Bonita’s family meant the world to her, and she loved spending time with them. Her generosity, wisdom, and spirit touched everyone she met and she will never be forgotten by those who had the fortune to know her.

Bonita’s memory and legacy will be carried on by her children, Tashema Palmer of Florida, Monica Anthony, Jessica Carpenter, both of Atlanta, GA, James Carpenter, Vivian Moore and Brandi Whitaker, all of Rocky Mount; siblings, Dorothy Nared of Durham, Gloria Jean Anthony of White Plains, NY, Regina Anthony of Brooklyn, NY, John Anthony of Bronx, NY, Billy Ray Anthony of Kinston and Milton Anthony (Shirley) of Durham; twenty-three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Bonita will also be missed by many nieces, nephews, other extended relatives and family friends.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 1:00pm on Sunday, July 12, 2026, at Davis-Little Funerals, 2129 Lawrence Circle, Rocky Mount, NC 27804 with Minister Milton Anthony officiating. The family will receive friends prior to the service beginning at 12:00pm.
