Bruce Wayne Arnold, age 74, went Home to be with his Lord and Savior, Wednesday, July 19, 2023. His journey began on May 1, 1949 in Edgecombe County, son of Robert Henry and Zettie Williamson Arnold. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Susie Arnold and Merlyn Lewis and brothers, Dennis, JC, and Dick Arnold.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Joyce Long Arnold; daughter, Angela Arnold Wiggins (Robbie) of Red Oak; sisters, Eunice Dietrich of Rocky Mount and Jackie A. Varnell (Joe) of Pinetops; brother, Tom Arnold (Linda) of Rocky Mount; sisters-in-law, Bonnie Arnold and Linda Arnold; and brother-in-law, Charlie Lewis. Bruce was an especially proud Pa Pa to his granddaughters, Brooke and Emily Wiggins, they were his pride and joy. He will also be missed by several nieces, nephews, friends and Memorial Baptist Church family.
Bruce graduated from West Edgecombe High School in 1969 and began his electrical career at Eastern Electric. His time was cut short when he was drafted into the Army and stationed in South Vietnam as a supply clerk in the 1st Signal Brigade where he went on to earn a Bronze Star Medal. Upon his return to America and honorable discharge, Bruce started his career at Rigby Electric Supply. Bruce dedicated over 47 years of his life to Rigby where he started out as a delivery truck driver and worked his way up to warehouse manager and sales counter. He had a personality and knowledge that drew people to him and was well-known for handshakes, waves and smiles.
Bruce was also a devoted Christian and charter member of Memorial Baptist Church and had no fear in sharing his faith, testimony and what God had done for him. He served the Lord faithfully and in many capacities such as the Chairman of deacons, trustee, Royal Ambassador Leader and choir member. He had a serving spirit beyond words that was seen in the simple things he did for others. Bruce was a loving husband, father, Pa Pa, brother, uncle and friend and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
A memorial service with military honors will be held on Sunday, July 23, 2023, at 2:00PM at Memorial Baptist Church, 5399 Old Wilson Road, Rocky Mount, NC. The family will receive friends prior to the service beginning at 1:00PM and other times at the home.
