Bruce Gorham Lewis, age 82, passed away on Wednesday, January 25, 2022. He was born on December 11, 1939 in Pitt County to Hugh and Pattie Dunn Lewis. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Betty Bennett, Gladys Ellis, Marie Powell, Irene Eastwood, Edith Keel, Margaret Hale, and Edna Finch and brother, John Thomas Lewis.

He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Ella Lewis; children, Patsy Alligood (Doug) of Belhaven, Vickie Carter (Blake) of Salem, and George Lewis of Salem; grandchildren, Sarah Carter, Kristin Robinson, and Virginia Robinson (Gina); great-grandchildren, Easton Sparrow and Jacob Sparrow; along with several nieces, nephews, and extended relatives.

Bruce enjoyed the simple things in life. He loved hunting, fishing, and being outdoors. He was a hardware and grocery store owner for many years. He was a faithful Christian man who regularly attended Salem Community Church and helped out in all aspects that he could. Bruce was also a fireman, serving with the Salem Fire Department. He loved his family and community and will be dearly missed by all who knew him.

A memorial service to remember the life of Bruce will be held on Friday, January 28, 2022 at 4:00 PM at Salem Community Church, 4502 Swift Creek School Rd, Whitakers, NC 27891. The family will receive friends immediately following the service.
