Carol Denton Hales, age 76, passed away Friday morning, June 23, 2023 at Nash UNC Healthcare in Rocky Mount, North Carolina.

Carol's journey began on June 22, 1947 in Nash County as a daughter born to Sidney and Lenora B. Denton. She graduated from Benvenue High School in 1965 and enjoyed a successful career in accounting at C.W. Williams & Company. She was an avid sports fan, boasting a wealth of knowledge about her favorite NFL team, the Carolina Panthers and a variety of NASCAR stats. She enjoyed game days and race days, cheering her favorites loudly and proudly.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a niece, Kerry Michelle Newell.

Carol leaves a devoted sister, Kay D. Newell and husband, Terry of Red Oak; her beloved niece, Kara Newell and husband, J.T. Carper; and nephew, Terry-Michael Newell, Jr. and wife, Kim, all of Zebulon; and great-nieces, Bailey and Zoe Newell and Trinity Carper. She will also be deeply missed by the family pups, Dolly & Cam, and Peanut & Ozzie, as well as many caring friends and other extended relatives.

A service to celebrate Carol's life will be held at 2:00 pm, Monday, June 26, 2023 at First Baptist Church, 200 S. Church Street, Rocky Mount, NC 27804. The family will greet friends prior to the service, beginning at 1:00 pm in the Family Ministry Center. In lieu of flowers, please consider memorial donations to First Baptist Church of Rocky Mount.
