With her beloved family by her side, Carolyn Griffin Mitchell, age 76, passed away peacefully in her home on Tuesday, August 16, 2022. She was born in Halifax County, NC on March 31, 1946 to Jesse and Anna Harrell Hale. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband and children's father, Edgar "Red" Griffin and siblings, Fred Hale, Allie Harrell, and Linda Edmondson.

She leaves a lifetime of treasured memories for her husband, Billy Gene Mitchell; children, Angela G. Sugg (Billy) of Chocowinity, Eddie Griffin (Donna) of Robersonville, Lisa G. Timar (John) of Washington, and Jesse Griffin (Kerri) of Grifton; grandchildren, Leslie Sugg, Stephanie Moore (Justin), Allison Griffin, Justin Leggett (Amanda), Cody Timar (Logan), Caleb Griffin (Xochipilli), and Saragrace Griffin; great-grandchildren, Holden, Layla, Ivy, and Karson Leggett, Gavin Paramore, and Bloom and Isla Griffin; sisters-in-law, Phylis Wilson of Vanceboro and Edna Hale of Hobgood; brother-in-law, Clayton Edmondson (Faye) of Rocky Mount; step-children, Jessi Mitchell (Ken) of Vanceboro and William Mitchell (Krista) of High Point; and step-grandchildren, Bethany, Eliyah, Rachel, Cora, and Liam Mitchell and Luke, Jacob, Caleb, and Nathan Brooks, as well as her wonderful FaithHouse church family and devoted pastors, Mike and Mary Chatt.

A service to celebrate Carolyn's life will be held on Friday, August 19, 2022 at 11AM at FaithHouse Church, 2147 HWY 64 East Alternate, Tarboro, NC 27886.  Interment will follow at Bethel Cemetery in Bethel, NC. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service, beginning at 10AM.
