Cecil "Butch" Hancock, age 76, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 19, 2022 at ECU Health Edgecombe Hospital in Tarboro, NC. He was born on March 10, 1946 in New Hanover County to Philip and Cecil Hancock. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by sister, Ellen Carter Honeycutt; brother, Philip Hurt Hancock; parents-in-law, John and Aileen Rucker; and sisters-in-law, Meredith and Jackie Rucker.

Butch is survived by his loving family including his wife, Barbara Rucker Hancock; daughter, Jessica Lynn Henderson (Paul Wiederhold) of Tarboro; son, Bryan Carter Hancock (Lindsay) of Goldsboro; grandchildren, Noah, Mills, and Hallie Hancock, all of Goldsboro and Ari and Gabe Henderson and Sarah Wiederhold, all of Tarboro.

After his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, Butch's first love was always his family. After his family, his love was the men's bible study group at Howard Memorial Presbyterian Church. Butch will be dearly missed by his family, church family, and friends.

The family will host a memorial service on Sunday, August 7, 2022, at 1:00 PM at Howard Memorial Presbyterian Church, 303 East St. James Street, Tarboro.  The family will receive friends immediately following the service.
