Charles "Skip" Shafer, Jr., age 79, passed away peacefully Friday afternoon, January 9, 2026, at The Landings of Rocky Mount Mills. He was a proud veteran, having served his country honorably in the United States Army.

Skip was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara Jean Cockrell Shafer, and is survived by his sons, Christopher Shafer of Rocky Mount, Kevin Hall and wife, Lisa, and Scott Hall and wife, Janice, all of Nashville, and daughter, April Jenkins; grandchildren, Matthew Hall, Rachel Hall, Megan Hall, Sarah Beane, Emily Hall, Abby Boykin, Molly Hall, Joshua Usery, and Ashley Usery; great-grandchildren, Alex Alvarez, Jaxon and Liam Pittman, Isla Jean Hall, Bryson and Conner Boykin, Kinley Moser, and Levi Usery. He will also be deeply missed by many nieces, nephews, family friends and other extended relatives.

Skip enjoyed a variety of activities including freshwater and salt-water fishing. When he was not fishing, he could often be found playing a round of golf in his spare time. He had also developed an interest in coin collecting of all types through the years. He especially enjoyed going to church and being in the company of his brothers and sisters in Christ.

While floral tributes are welcomed, memorial donations to assist the family with expenses will also be appreciated.

A memorial service to remember and celebrate Skip's life will be held at 3:00 pm, Monday, January 12, 2026, at Davis-Little Funerals, 2129 Lawrence Circle, Rocky Mount. The family will greet friends immediately following the service.
