Obituary

Nashville –

Christopher "Chris" Eugene Taylor, age 36, passed away unexpectedly Friday, October 25, 2024. He was born on April 11, 1988 in Lincolnton, North Carolina. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Clarence Taylor and maternal grandfather, Robert Green (Susan).

He is survived by his mother, Barbara Green (fiancé, Gerry Brabham); father, Eugene Taylor (Rose); siblings, Diane Dancy (Terrell), Sarah Denton (Matt) and Sam Edmonds (Kathy); grandmothers, Edith Mitchum and Judy Taylor; nephews, Braxton, Levi, Alec, Charlie and niece, Stella; along with a host of aunts, uncles and other extended relatives.

Chris will also be remembered by his caregivers, Doug and Stacy Baird and their children, Matthew Davenport and Brittney Ream, as well as his friends within the group home who became family.

Chris had a passion for a variety of interests, including video games, wrestling, and Mickey Mouse. There was nothing he enjoyed more than lounging in his pajamas, watching cartoons like SpongeBob, Looney Tunes, or Mickey Mouse Clubhouse, all while simultaneously playing Pokémon, Sonic, or Mega Man on his trusty Gameboy. WWE was another favorite of his, and he was particularly fond of Rey Mysterio; watching him soar off the top rope to take down an opponent was a thrill that never got old.

On top of his love for entertainment, he also had an artistic side that was showcased by writing stories, creating elaborate cards for every holiday and drawing characters that he watched from his favorite cartoons. Coaxing Chris to put down his art was easy when a trip to Golden Corral was in store, especially if someone else was picking up the bill. His personal motto was: "it's easy to be frugal when you can spend someone else's money."

Despite facing challenges from Mucopolysaccharidoses, Chris persevered and lived life to the fullest. He traveled all over the world from meeting his idol, Mickey at Disney World to cruising from coast to coast and regularly visiting Mexico. In between travelling, he dedicated himself to collecting can tabs for the Ronald McDonald House, spending countless hours counting and sorting them, and proudly had hundreds of thousands before turning them in. If you ever asked him how many tabs he had, he could recite the number instantly, as if he had just finished counting. His unwavering determination, lighthearted spirit, and deep love for all things Mickey Mouse will forever be remembered by his family, friends, and everyone fortunate enough to know him.
