Colleen "Dot" Herman Coker, a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt and long time friend to many, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 25, 2026 at the age of 89. She was born on May 25, 1937 in Georgiana, Alabama. Colleen remained true to her roots and was a lifelong, dedicated fan of the Alabama Crimson Tide football team - she never missed an opportunity to cheer them on with a loud "Roll Tide!".
She was reunited in Heaven with her beloved husband of forty-six years, William Linwood "Mose" Coker, Jr, who passed away on May 5, 2013.
Colleen is survived by her son, William Linwood "Lin" Coker, III and wife, Brandy; daughter, Jennifer Hamlette Beem and husband, Carl; brother, Jim Herman and wife, Joyce; grandchildren, Bella Coker, Leah Coker, TJ Jernigan and wife, Holly, Jesse Jernigan and wife, Connie and William Jernigan and wife, Kelsey and great-grandchildren, Kaitlyn, Preston, Aaliyah, Lillie, Bailey, Raylyn, Lexi, and Ziva.
She will also be dearly missed by her niece, Becky Best and husband, Denny; nephew, Randy Davis; great-nephew, Nelson Best; great-niece, Amy Wood; great-great nephews, Thomas, Parker and William Crane; great-great-great-nephew, Jaxson and her McKendree United Methodist Church family.
Visitation will be held on Monday, August 31, 2026 from 4:00PM - 6:00PM at Davis-Little Funerals, 2129 Lawrence Circle, Rocky Mount, NC 27804. A graveside service will be held at 2:00PM on Tuesday, September 1, 2026 at Edgecombe Memorial Park, Hwy 258, Tarboro, NC 27886 with Pastor Mark Clark officiating.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions to McKendree United Methodist Church, 7882 McKendree Church Road, Tarboro, North Carolina, 27886 or to Mothers Against Drunk Driving, 511 E. John Carpenter Freeway, Irving, TX 75062.
