Daniel Ellis Wyckoff

Daniel Ellis Wyckoff, known to friends and family as “Danny”, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, September 8, 2026. He was born on November 23, 1966 in Washington D.C. to John Ellis Wyckoff and Eunice Winfree Wyckoff and lived with them in Silver Spring, Maryland. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Danielle Dawn Wyckoff.

When he was a young boy, Danny and his family moved from Maryland to Nash County where he was raised. During school, he was outgoing and made many friends through his time playing football. Danny had a natural affinity for helping people; he would give anything to anyone to help them out if he was able. His servitude for his fellow man and community were evident in his time as an EMT with Stoney Creek EMS. He made lasting relationships throughout his time there.

In his early adult years, he left Nash County and established himself in Morehead City. In 1996, he ventured out as an entrepreneur and started Family Home Improvement and Landscaping. His handyman and lawn care business served many families and companies spanning across Carteret County. Even on his off days from working, Danny helped his family with their personal landscaping. He always knew which plants should be planted in season, their individual care needs and where to put them for the best sunlight. Recently, he helped his sister, Pamela plant three rose bushes and a lilac bush in her yard and helped her establish their care so that they would thrive.

Life at the beach allowed Danny to dedicate lots of time to one of his favorite hobbies: fishing. He enjoyed being able to relax on the water and catch fish that he could prepare for lunch or dinner. Fishing is always more fun with company, so Danny spent a lot of time casting lines with his good friend, Thomas. Cooking on the grill was another passion of Danny's. Rain or shine, he could be found preparing delicious meals for his family and friends. He especially loved oyster roasts where his nephews could join in on the fun. During his stay in Morehead City, his mother, Eunice, joined him in living at the beach. The two of them loved each other beyond words. Even though Danny was a "mama's boy" he also loved spending time with his extended family and especially his grandfather (who passed away when Danny was 6 years old) with whom he had a special relationship with.

While Danny was no stranger to the lows and difficulties that life can bring, he was also resilient and never let himself stay down for long. He made a new beginning and improved his life when he moved to Morehead City and started his own business. Recently, Danny and his nephew, David Lee would have long, serious conversations about Jesus, his faith and his personal walk with the Lord. While those talks meant a lot to David Lee, they meant the world to Danny and his blossoming relationship with God.

Danny is survived by his sister, Pamela W. Jenkins (Robert) of Nashville; nephews, Michael Earl Wyckoff (Amanda) of Greensboro and David Lee Cooper, Jr (Dominika) of Woodbridge, VA; great-nieces, Ciani Vernice Wyckoff, Emma Ela Cooper, Naomi Merrie Wyckoff, Elena Lee Cooper and Nayeli Rain Wyckoff; half-brother, Michael Anthony Wyckoff and best friends, Thomas Perkins (Gail) and their daughter, Amanda and Greg Sanders and his daughter, Amanda.

Danny will be most remembered for his loyalty, selflessness and his unconditional, unwavering love for his family and friends. Though he will be deeply missed, his memory will live on in the hearts of those who loved him.

The family will host a memorial service to celebrate both Danny and Eunice at 11:30 on Saturday, September 26, 2026 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 3608 Country Club Road, Morehead City, NC 28557.

A second memorial service for Danny and Eunice will be held at 11:00am on Saturday, October 3, 2026 at Fellowship Church, 1114 S 1st Street, Nashville, NC 27856 with Pastor Michael Johnson officiating. The family will receive friends prior to the service beginning at 10:00am and other times at the home.
