Conetoe -

David Lee Moore, age 59, passed away on August 3rd, 2025 in his hometown of Conetoe. He was born in Edgecombe County on March 7th, 1966 to Leroy and Linda Faye Bottoms Moore. He was preceded in death at an early age by his mother, and later loved and raised by Beth as her own.

Growing up, David Lee thought he was invincible. From jumping cars over creeks, skydiving, drag racing and more- he lived life to its fullest potential. As he got older, he still enjoyed his fun but he grew to love a slow, steady life. David Lee loved working with his hands, staying busy, and helping others. His favorite thing to do on the weekend was watch Nascar and catch up with his family and friends throughout the week. He was full of mischief, love, and gratitude.

David Lee cherished family over everything. He bragged about his two daughters with every opportunity, he spent his free time calling his siblings, he was constantly out in the yard helping his parents, and he shared many laughs and lots of love with his wife. His family kept him motivated and served as a constant reminder of how joyous life can be.

David Lee began attending His Vision Ministry where Jay Thompson is the pastor. Jay and the church community helped David grow strong in his faith and in himself. David helped bring others to the Lord and did his best to show God's love and grace everywhere he went and to everyone he met.

David is survived by a large and loving family that includes his parents, Beth and Leroy Moore; wife, Rae Nelson; daughters, Emilee and Alanna Moore; siblings, David Earl Casper (Janet), Gloria Carpenter (Lee), Tim Moore (Jackie), Ronnie Casper (Tina), and Penny Wynne (Jamie); along with many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and countless friends.

From relatives to friends to church family, David loved them all dearly and never knew a stranger. To know David Lee was to know love.

A Celebration of David Lee's Life will be held at 2:00 pm, Friday, August 8th, 2025 at Sunset Church of God, 1709 Anaconda Rd., Tarboro, NC 27886. Burial will follow at Edgecombe Memorial Park. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 12:00 - 1:45 pm and other times at the home of Leroy and Beth Moore. David disliked typical "black funeral attire" so please dress in colors to honor him, his favorite color was blue.
