Deborah Kathleen Nelson

Deborah Kathleen Nelson, age 66, passed away peacefully Monday, October 19, 2026 at UNC Nash Hospital in Rocky Mount, North Carolina. She was born in Cincinnati, Ohio on April 21, 1961 to Melvin Eugene Nelson, Sr. and Cynthia Langley Nelson. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Kenneth and Douglas Nelson and sister, Barbara Bansley.   

Debbie will be remembered for her kind heart and generous spirit. She was very private, but gentle soul who hated to see others go without. She would give you the shirt off her back if you needed it, always offering kindness and compassion to those around her. Though we may not know all the details of her life, the kindness she showed is a beautiful part of the legacy she leaves behind. 

She is survived by her brothers, Melvin Eugene Nelson, Jr. and wife, Janice of Dallas, TX and James Nelson and wife, Judy of Verona, KY; sister, Neva Chapman of Rocky Mount; nieces, Jennifer Nelson and Briana Nelson and her beloved pug, Princess. 

A private memorial will be held at a later date at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Dallas, Texas.
