Dennis "Russell" Morgan

Dennis "Russell" Morgan, age 47, passed away unexpectedly Tuesday, September 29, 2026, at Wilson Medical Center in Wilson, North Carolina. He was born in Nash County on June 28, 1979, and was preceded in death by maternal grandparents, George and Virginia Aycock; and paternal grandparents, Pat and Della Morgan.

He is survived by a loving family that includes his parents, Dennis and Lou Morgan of Battleboro; girlfriend, Jennifer Mazurek “forever girl” of Bailey; children, Kayla Morgan Walker (Holden), Blaise Norton, and Miles Morgan; sister, Tina Morgan Carter (Cameron) of Battleboro; grandson, Greyson Anderson; and granddaughter "Baby Miller" due in November.

He will also be missed by his nephew, Chase Wallace; Jennifer’s children, Maggie Pittman, Brittany Pittman, Dylan Inscoe; lifelong friend, Dan Harrell; Brittany’s child, Cainon Howell; his beloved canine companion, Waffles; along with many friends, co-workers, and other extended relatives.

As a teenager, Russell loved sports, especially basketball. His dream job would have been coaching a basketball team, and he remained a devoted UNC Tar Heels fan throughout his life.

Outgoing and warmhearted, Russell never met a stranger. He loved spending time with friends, whether socializing, hosting cookouts, or simply enjoying a good time together. He worked at Firestone for many years and treasured life’s simple pleasures: sitting outside by a fire with a cup of coffee, sharing stories about his life, and talking about plans for the future. Even while facing serious medical challenges, Russell found happiness in his simple life and in the moments he shared with the people he loved.

Russell loved movies, especially documentaries, and seemed to know every actor. He was always ready with a perfectly timed movie quote, and he delighted in joking around and making people laugh. He also enjoyed wearing T-shirts with funny sayings. More than anything, Russell loved seeing his family happy.

He had a special love for dogs and shared his life with several over the years. His dog Waffles held a particularly special place in his heart.
