Donald P. Irwin, II

Donald Phillip Irwin II, age 70, passed away on Saturday, September 26, 2026. He was born in Chicago, IL, on May 22, 1956 and was the son of Donald P. Irwin Sr. and Nancy R. Irwin. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Deborah Thorne.

Don was known for his tough guy exterior, but those that knew him best knew the gentle and loving side. He spent forty years working as a primary operator for Draka, where he took great pride in his work. He leaves behind a legacy of laughter, deep love for his family, and love for his Savior.

Left to cherish his memory is his wife of forty-eight years, Sadie Irwin; children, David Irwin (Jennifer) of Rocky Mount and Donald Irwin III (Kelly) of Zebulon; grandchildren, Dylan Irwin, Jackson Irwin, Harrison Irwin, and Emerson Irwin; sisters, Dana Abdelhadi (Rafael), Pam Webb (Glen), Dale Ellis; and brother-in-law, Archie Thorne; and many special nieces and nephews.

The family will host a Celebration of Life at 4:00pm on Thursday, October 1, 2026 at Memorial Baptist Church, 5399 Old Wilson Road, Rocky Mount, NC 27801. Visitation will take place prior to the service, beginning at 3:00pm. Floral tributes may be delivered to Memorial Baptist Church.
