Donald Richard Wine, Jr., 75, passed away on Wednesday, November 26, 2025. He was born on April 29, 1950 in San Francisco, California to Donald R. Wine, Sr. and Evelyn Kirkby Wine. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Elizabeth Wine Harrison; grandson, Donald R. Wine, IV; and grandparents, Harold V. and Dollie Wine. He is survived by his son, Donald R. Wine III and wife, Amy and granddaughter, Kellie M. Wine.

Donald graduated from William C. Overfelt High School in San Jose, California where he displayed his athletic ability by playing water polo and was also involved in the Chess Club. After high school, he enlisted and served honorably in the United States Army from 1970 - 1974. Upon his discharge, he moved to Tarboro, NC.

He attended Wilson Community College where he earned a bachelor's degree in Drafting and Design Engineering and was employed by Carolina Enterprise in Tarboro and Metalcraft Air Filtration, in Washington, NC.

While he enjoyed many favorites such as music by Led Zeppelin, his favorite song, "Stairway To Heaven," his oatmeal raisin cookies, and his love for the San Francisco 49'ers, nothing compared to time spent with the apple of his eye, his granddaughter, Kellie. He was her biggest fan and supporter as he watched her play volleyball and soccer.  One of his proudest moments came as she graduated from Southwest Edgecombe High School and signed to play college soccer at Chowan University.

A beloved father, grandfather and friend, Donald will be dearly missed by all who knew him.

A private memorial will be held at a later date.
