Rocky Mount -

Donas McKenzie, age 73, passed away on Sunday, August 28, 2022 in Rocky Mount, NC. He was born in Edgecombe County on June 6, 1949 to Amos and Josephine Nelson McKenzie. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Amos McKenzie, II and sister, Thelma Lilley. Donas was a proud US veteran having served honorably in the U.S. Air Force.

He is survived by a close, loving family including his brother, Gus Lee McKenzie and wife, Lucille of Rocky Mount; niece, Cynthia Lilley of Rocky Mount; nephews, Amos McKenzie, III of Morrisville and Terry Lee McKenzie of Seagrove; special friend, Geraldine Malloy of Rocky Mount; friends, Lorraine Grant, Hubert Grant, Jr., Gary English and wife, Erica, Regina Doré and Johnnie Mayo; along with many other friends and extended relatives.

A private memorial service will be held at a later date.
