Donnie Bass Jr.

Donnie Bass, Jr., age 50, passed away Sunday, June 7, 2026 at Nash UNC Health Care in Rocky Mount, North Carolina. He was born on April 10, 1976 in Nash County. He was preceded in death by his father, Donald Louis Bass and step-father, John Albert Bunn.

An avid gardener and a phenomenal cook, Donnie had a unique gift for turning raw ingredients and a simple patch of earth into something extraordinary. Beyond the garden and the kitchen, he found peace in nature and joy in music. He was happiest when the sun was on his face and a favorite song was playing in the background.

Donnie is survived by his wife of sixteen years, Wendy Turner Bass; daughters, Samantha Jane Bass and Aaralyn Renae Bass; mother, Kristy Bunn of Spring Hope; siblings, Mark Bunn (Pam) of Wilson and Sara Coley (Ernie) of Jefferson, NC; along with many nieces, nephews and other extended relatives.

The family will host a Remembrance Service at 3:00 pm, Wednesday, June 17, 2026 at Avalon Baptist Church, 3225 Old Battleboro Road, Rocky Mount, NC  27801. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Avalon Baptist Church.
