Donnie Ray Jones, age 79, passed away Monday, December 18, 2023. He was born on November 26, 1944 in Edgecombe County to  Thurman Jones, Sr. and Clara Speight Jones. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Barbara Dawn Jones and Judy Ezzelle and brothers, Bobby Jones and Thurman Jones, Jr.

He leaves a treasure trove of memories for the love of his life and wife, Beverly Jones; beloved grandson, Jarrett, whom he adored and enjoyed many wonderful and fun adventures together; and his sister with whom he shared a special bond, Carol Webb. Donnie will also be missed by his loving step-children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and several nieces, nephews, and other extended relatives.

Donnie was a proud veteran having served honorably in the United States Army Reserve. Following his military duty, he enjoyed a successful career with Barnhill Contracting Company as a skilled motor grader and retired after many years of dedicated service.

A graveside service will be held on Friday, December 22, 2023 at 1:00pm at Rocky Mount Memorial Park, 4544 Dortches Blvd, Rocky Mount, NC with Reverend Lee Marks officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the service.
