Dorothy Griffin Jones Puckett, age 84, passed away peacefully Sunday, May 11, 2025. She was born in Nash County on March 31, 1941. She was preceded in death by her parents, Tommie George Griffin and Dorthene Griffin Rackley and husbands, Charlie E. Jones, Jr. and Kermitte Puckett.

She is survived by her daughters, Joy Griffin Jones of Nashville and Jennifer J. Steelman of Kinston.

Dorothy spent her entire life in the Red Oak and Nash County area, with the exception of a brief six-month period when her husband's job forced them to relocate. Her heart was always set on returning to Nash County, and once she did, she firmly set her roots there, never to leave again. Throughout her life, she dedicated herself to raising her family in her beloved town.

In addition to her role as a devoted mother, Dorothy also became a well-known figure in the county as the owner of Puckett Poultry Service in Nashville where she worked for twenty-three years. A beloved pillar in the community, she will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
