IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Dorothy Moss
Outlaw
April 21, 1941 – February 21, 2023
Nashville -
Dorothy Jean Outlaw, 81, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 21, 2023. Jean was the daughter of William Louis Moss and Dorothy Patterson Moss. Born April 21, 1941, in Virginia, Jean lived her adult life in Rocky Mount, NC, with her husband of over 60 years, Lawrence John "Buddy" Outlaw, and her two sons, Danny and Mark Outlaw.
Together, Jean and Buddy were known for their compassion and huge hearts. Jean loved to regularly host friends and family, and she loved the outdoors. As a lifelong Christian, Jean clung to her belief in a Heavenly home beyond her earthly one. Over the years, Jean touched so many lives, our family takes comfort knowing that there was a spectacular Heavenly reunion upon her arrival. It will truly be impossible to forget someone like Jean, who gave us all so much to remember.
Jean leaves behind many friends and family members to cherish her memory. Most notably, her brothers Joe Moss (Patricia) and Jack Moss (Faye), her sisters-in-law, Joy Moss and Debbie Moss, daughter-in-law, Debbie Outlaw, and stepchildren, Wayne Outlaw (Sharon), Bunnie Liles (Bobby), and Vickie Heschl (Gary). Jean has 10 grandchildren: Lauren Outlaw (Brent), Justin Outlaw (Mary Beth), Matthew Outlaw, Tammie Adams (John), Michelle Moore (John), Mindi Collins (Bard), Brent Aspinwall (Kim), Chad Aspinwall (Emily), Eric Heschl (Sarah) and Ronnie Spain. She also has 11 great-grandchildren and wore the title of "Mommaw" very proudly.
Jean was preceded in death by her parents, her brothers, Phil, Bill, and Johnny Moss, her wonderful husband, Buddy Outlaw, and her two sons, Danny and Mark Outlaw.
A funeral service will be held Sunday, February 26, 2023, at 2:00 PM at West Mount Emmanuel Holiness Church, 1305 Old Mill Rd, Rocky Mount, NC with family friend, Rev. Gerald Parker officiating. Burial will be at Rocky Mount Memorial Park immediately after.
Eternal rest, grant unto them, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon them. May the souls of the faithful departed through the mercy of God rest in peace. Amen.
