IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Edgar "Lee"
Hines, Jr.
July 16, 1938 – March 27, 2025
Nashville -
Lee Hines passed away peacefully on March 27, 2025, surrounded by his loving family in Nashville, NC, at Autumn Care of Nash.
Lee graduated from Jonesville High School and proudly served his country as a Seabee in the United States Navy. From 1956 to 1967, he dedicated himself to service in Vietnam, England, and completed his Navy career at Great Lakes Naval Base. On September 7, 1958, he married his beloved wife and high school sweetheart, Helen, and together they built a beautiful life, raising three children—Karen, Jeff, and Randy.
Lee was a man of quiet strength and a warm smile. He had a deep love for NASCAR and enjoyed many hours fishing at Lake Gaston and hunting. He and Helen shared a passion for adventure, traveling across the USA in their RV, making cherished memories along the way. He was an active member of the Oak Level Ruritan Club for 33 years and retired from Abbott Laboratories after working for 27 years.
Lee is survived by his devoted wife of 67 years, Helen; his children, Karen (Lennie), Jeff (Annie), and Randy (Lisa); his nine grandchildren, Stephanie, Jessica (Will), Nick, Kayla, Katelyn (Joe), PFC Jeffrey, Brandon, Nathan, and Tanner; and his seven great-grandchildren, Kayden, George Jr., Brentley, Emerson, Jaxtyn, Holland, and Huxtyn. He is also survived by his brother, Harold (Barbara). Lee was preceded in death by his parents, Edgar Hines Sr. and Virginia Pendleton Hines; his sister, Jeanette; and his brothers, Dennis and Larry.
Lee's kindness, generosity, and unwavering love for his family will forever be treasured by those who knew him. His passion for the outdoors, his fondness for fishing and hunting, and his love for NASCAR, Coca-Cola, cookies, and Dairy Queen Blizzards will remain cherished memories. Though he is no longer with us, his legacy of love and laughter will live on in the hearts of his family and friends.
The family will receive friends from 11:00 - 12:30pm on Saturday, April 5, 2025, at Robinette Funeral Home in Jonesville, Virginia. A graveside service with military honors will immediately follow at Lee Memorial Gardens in Pennington Gap, Virginia. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made in Lee's memory to either Kids and Mentors Outdoors, Wisconsin Chapter, Coulee ( kamokids.org ), reflecting his generous, kind spirit, and love of the outdoors or the Oak Level Ruritan Club in Nashville, NC.
