Edwin Willis Reid

Edwin Willis Reid, age 87, passed away at his home early Tuesday morning, June 2, 2026. 

He was born in Nash County on November 22, 1938 to James L. and Mamie Griffin Reid. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife of almost sixty years, Julia Johnson Reid; son, Edwin "Randy" Reid; son-in-law, James "Jay" Herbert; and brother, James Craig Reid.

He leaves a lifetime of precious memories for his daughter, Whitney Reid Herbert; grandsons, Edwin Randall Reid, Jr (Samantha Johnson) and Jackson McKenneth Reid (Amber Godwin); great-grandchildren, Lily Grace Lamprecht-Reid and Maverick Boyce Lamprecht; nieces, Ashley Moss and Tara Reid; and his faithful little dogs, Roxy and Mia. He will also be lovingly remembered by a wide circle of friends and extended family in-laws, including Sue Armstrong (Steve), Carol Brown, Joe Johnson (Marilyn), all of Whitakers, Needham Johnson (Hope) of Rocky Mount, and W.H. Johnson (Irene) of Gainesville, Ga.  

A Celebration of Edwin's Life will be held at 2:00 pm, Sunday, June 7, 2026 at Lighthouse Baptist, 1703 Reges Store Road, Nashville, NC 27856. The family will receive friends immediately following the service. Flowers are welcome or memorial donations may be made to Lighthouse Baptist Church.
