Ella Geneva Davis, age 87, passed away Saturday, April 18, 2026. She was born in Rocky Mount, North Carolina on September 23, 1938, daughter of Henry Bruce Owens and Irene Boone Owens.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Bill Davis; daughter, Mahala Anderton; son, Ricky Hopkins; grandson, Richie Hopkins; sisters, Mattie Gupton, Bernice Parrish, Mary Slavin and Arlene Robinson and brothers, Larry, Otis, Willard, Wendell and Wayne Owens.
At age 50, Geneva married the love of her life, Bill, and moved to Baltimore, Maryland. She held many careers over her lifetime such as, Price Club, product demonstrator and also in the school lunchroom. Once Bill passed away, she moved to Newport, North Carolina to be closer to her family. She celebrated many proud moments during her lifetime, but one that really stood out was her decision to resume her education and earn a high school diploma.
Family was very important to Geneva and she loved spending quality time with them during gatherings. Since her favorite color was red, she especially enjoyed Christmas parties. Usually, without fail, she was planning the Christmas party for the next year before the night was over. Aside from being with her family, Geneva's favorite activity was traveling, especially with her other half, Bill; one of their most visited travel destinations was the beach. Geneva was blessed with a beautiful life and will be forever missed and loved by her family, friends, and all who had the fortune of knowing her.
Geneva is survived by her daughters, Robin Wells (Jamie), Linda Clay (Jerry), Genny Upchurch and Denise Warbritton (David); seven grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; along with many nieces, nephews and family friends.
A graveside service will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Friday, April 24, 2026 at Pineview Cemetery, Rocky Mount. The family will receive friends prior to the service at 1:00 p.m. at Davis-Little Funerals, 2129 Lawrence Circle, Rocky Mount, NC 27804.
