Rocky Mount –

Ellen W. Henson, age 82, passed away peacefully Wednesday, December 27, 2023 at her home in Rocky Mount, North Carolina. She was born on October 3, 1941 in New Bern, North Carolina to William Albert and Annie Tucker Meekins. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Robert Meekins, Albert Meekins, Lawrence Meekins and Betty Jean Meekins.

She leaves a lifetime of memories for her children, Jean E. Worthington, Jr. (Darlene) of Benson, Jenean W. Booher (Steve) of Roanoke Rapids and Scott Worthington (Jessica) of Littleton; along with many nieces, nephews and other extended relatives.

One of Ellen's greatest joys in life was her grandchildren, Ashley Lanham (Charlie), Meghan Angelis (Tim), Taylor Worthington (Amber), Jon Scott Worthington (Kat), Patrick Worthington (Amber) and Peyton Worthington and her great-grandchildren, Lily, Zoey, Charlie, Colt, Wyatt, Case, Freya, Theo and Azreal.

Throughout her life, Ellen was devoted to her family, friends, and her faith. She loved spending time chatting with her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and friends. She was also an avid reader and enjoyed the outdoors. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her.

A Celebration of Life will be held Sunday, December 31, 2023 at 2:00pm at Englewood Presbyterian Church, 100 S Englewood Dr, Rocky Mount, NC 27804. The family will receive friends prior to the service beginning at 1:00pm.
