Rocky Mount –

Ellen Piper Shearin Bass, age 67, passed away peacefully Sunday, March 16, 2025 at her son's home in Rocky Mount, North Carolina. She was born on July 10, 1957 in Nash County to William and Eileen Gundacker Shearin. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Preston Bass and brothers-in-law, Robert D. Smith and George Lancaster.

She is survived by her son, Billy Bass (Emily) of Rocky Mount and their children, Natalie and Bella Thompson; daughter, Heather Bass of Rocky Mount and her children, Conner Bass and Tatum Collie; siblings, Debbie Shearin Smith of Nashville and Beth Shearin Hogan (Dave) of Lexington, SC; sister-in-law, Elizabeth Lancaster of Rocky Mount and dear friends, Ginny Cobb of Rocky Mount and Susan Wynne of Warner Robbins, GA.

The family will host a visitation from 5:00 – 7:00pm on Wednesday, March 19, 2025 at the Nashville Community Building, 403 S. Alston Street, Nashville, NC 27856.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Stroke Association , 7272 Greenville Avenue, Dallas, TX 75231.
