Rocky Mount –

Emmett L. Tatum, Jr., age 96, went Home to be with his Lord and Savior Wednesday, January 22, 2025. His journey began in Edgecombe County on July 6, 1928 to Emmett and Blanche Fryer Tatum. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Denative Poland Tatum; daughter, Lenae June Tatum and sister, Blanche Trent.

He leaves a lifetime of treasured memories for his children, Lynette Tatum of Rocky Mount, JoElla T. Webb (Bruce) of Nashville and Duncan Emmett Tatum (Wendy) of Rocky Mount; grandchildren, Sharon Webb, Amy Webb Trull (Josh), Brandon Johnson, Adam Johnson (Jessica), Collin Tatum, Blake Tatum, Jamal Bullock and great-grandchildren, Kyle and Owen Trull, Aiden, Grace and Nathan.

A service will be held at 3:00pm on Sunday, January 26, 2025 at Oakdale Baptist Church, 13037 US Highway 64 Alt W, Rocky Mount, NC 2780. The family will receive friends prior to the service beginning at 2:00pm. A brief service of committal will take place at 12:00pm at Pineview Cemetery, Rocky Mount on Monday, January 27, 2025.
