Eunice Lee Winfree Wyckoff (Parrott)

Eunice Lee Winfree Wyckoff (Parrott), age 90, passed away peacefully Wednesday, August 26, 2026 at her home in Nashville, North Carolina, with her grandson, David Lee Cooper, Jr by her side. She was born in Halifax County on October 23, 1935, daughter of Dock Daniel Winfree, Sr and Effie Lee Proctor Winfree. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Dock Daniel “Sonnyboy” Winfree, Jr and granddaughter, Danielle Dawn Wyckoff.

Life for Eunice began on the family farm in Halifax County where she worked alongside her parents in the business of sharecropping. While on the farm, she especially enjoyed spending time with her aunts, uncles, and many, many cousins. In her early adulthood, Eunice left Halifax County and relocated to Maryland. It was there that she met her first husband, settled down and started her family. Though she was a distance from NC, her mother visited regularly and Eunice looked forward to the two of them preparing meals together. When Eunice was around 33 years old, her family returned to Nash County where she stayed for many years and raised her two children.

In 1989, Eunice moved to Morehead City and enjoyed living with her son, Danny. She had many fond memories of the summer seasons when her grandsons would come down to spend time with her. They'd go fishing every day and she would cook the fish and all of the fixings for them to enjoy. Eunice was a friendly face at the hotel she managed in Atlantic Beach from 1989 until its closing in 1994. Upon the hotel closing, she went to work at Willis' Seafood restaurant where she walked to work daily and was an expert at making the cocktail sauce. While in Morehead City, she became a member of the Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and was baptized on June 14, 2014. She made many connections and lasting friendships during her time there. Upon getting sick at the end of 2020, Eunice returned to Nash County to stay with her daughter, Pamela.

Eunice had a great joy for gardening and tending flowers. She was known for having many varieties of beautiful flowers in her yard at both her home in Maryland and in Morehead City, where she was most known for her giant yellow lilies. She also had a passion for embroidery. She was very talented in her craft and made pillowcases, towels and other pieces until her eyesight and fingers would no longer allow. Eunice also had a fondness for reading, word searches, a cold Mountain Dew and the company she had with Pamela's dogs, Bambi and Sophie. Sophie rarely left her side during her final days and was a great source of comfort for her.

While Eunice had many passions and hobbies throughout the years, her most precious memories were with her family. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren held a very special place in her heart. She doted on her grandsons, often making them coffee with way too much sugar and salads with loads of dressing and topped with her homemade fried chicken. On occasion when she needed a break from cooking, Eunice would take them to Great Wall Chinese Restaurant where she would pick out the little corns from her plate for them because they were their favorite. The first and only time she ever spanked them was when she found out they stripped all of the bark off of a tree in her yard. Her love for them was boundless, even traveling out of the country to Warsaw, Poland at 69 years old to witness David Lee get married. While her presence will be deeply missed, the memories of Eunice will remain cherished in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.

Eunice is survived by her children, Pamela W. Jenkins (Robert) and Daniel “Danny” Ellis Wyckoff, all of Nashville; grandchildren, Michael Earl Wyckoff (Amanda) of Greensboro and David Lee Cooper, Jr (Dominika) of Woodbridge, VA; great-grandchildren, Ciani Vernice Wyckoff, Emma Ela Cooper, Naomi Merrie Wyckoff, Elena Lee Cooper and Nayeli Rain Wyckoff and step-son, Michael Anthony Wyckoff.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00am on Saturday, October 3, 2026 at Fellowship Church, 1114 S 1st Street, Nashville, NC 27856 with Pastor Michael Johnson officiating. The family will receive friends prior to the service beginning at 10:00am and other times at the home.
