Fleur De Lis Cadano Balasoto, age 88, went Home to be with her Lord and Savior on Friday, April 3, 2026, at Nash UNC Health Care with her loving family by her side. Her journey began on October 4, 1937, in Taal, Philippines, as the oldest daughter of Agripino Cadano and Laura Banastas Cadano. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Lorenzo Bernardino Balasoto; son, Venezio Marcos Balasoto; sister, Edith Cadano Miranda and brothers-in-law, Restituto Miranda and Lawrence Dungca.
She was a woman of quiet strength and abiding faith—whose life reflected the beauty and gentleness of God’s love. Named after the French word for lily flower, her grace and purity mirrored the words of Matthew 6:28–29, “Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow: they neither toil, nor spin; yet even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these.” Her heart was drawn to the Sampaquita, the national flower of her beloved Philippines, and the Ilang-ilang—fragrant blossoms that, much like her spirit, symbolized devotion, sweetness, and love. Through every season, she bloomed with quiet elegance, blessing those around her with warmth and kindness.
She loved visiting the Philippines, where she spent cherished moments with her granddaughter, Jorelle, and many dear friends. Music was woven into her soul. In her youth, she proudly stepped onto the stage of Tawag Ng Tanghalan, a well-known singing competition in the Philippines. Whether singing at home or dancing the tango she adored, her spirit moved to the rhythm of life’s simple joys. She found joy in cooking meals seasoned with love and care, and in her gentle acts of creativity, sewing and mending clothing for her son as thoughtful expressions of devotion.
As the eldest of four sisters, she embodied patience and wisdom, nurturing harmony among them. Her legacy is woven not through grand gestures but through simple acts of kindness. Though flowers fade and songs may end, her spirit remains—constant, fragrant, and unforgotten. As the gentle scent of Sampaquita carried on the evening breeze, her love continues to bless all who were fortunate enough to know her.
Fleur leaves a lifetime of treasured memories for her son, Victor Emmanuel “ToBi” Balasoto (Regina “Gie” Balasoto); grandchildren, Myrrh Rachel Balasoto Hsu (Jonathan Hwai-Yueh Hsu), Abigail Joy “Abi” Balasoto, and Joanna Mariel “Jorelle” Balasoto; sisters, Zenaida “Nini” Dungca, and Ligaya “Le” Hernandez (Elias “Eli” Hernandez Sr.); along with several nephews, nieces, and other extended relatives.
A service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 11, 2026, at NorthSide Church, 1660 Beaver Pond Road, Rocky Mount, NC 27804. Interment will follow at Rocky Mount Memorial Park. The family will receive friends beginning at 9:00 a.m., before the service.
