Frances Gurganus Atkins

Frances Gurganus Atkins, age 80, passed away peacefully Monday afternoon, June 8, 2026. She was born in Nash County on October 31, 1945 to Howard and Nina Moore Gurganus. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of sixty-two years, Elmo Dan Atkins; sister, Diane West and great-grandson, Lawson Wells Atkins.

She is survived by her son, Michael Dan Atkins (Lisa) of Nashville; daughter, Michelle Ann Atkins of Durham; grandchildren, Leighann Whitehead (Buddy), Brandon Atkins (Savana) and Matthew Outlaw and great-grandchildren, Layton Grey Atkins and Callum James Atkins.

The family will receive friends for a special Time of Remembrance from 12:00pm to 2:00pm on Saturday, June 13, 2026 at Davis-Little Funerals, 2129 Lawrence Circle, Rocky Mount, NC 27804.
