Frederick Luther "Freddie" Joyner, age 68, passed away Thursday afternoon, June 29, 2023 in Rocky Mount, North Carolina. Freddie was born on September 3, 1954 in Edgecombe County to Fred, Jr. and Ethel Mae Joyner, both of whom preceded him in death. He was affectionately known to some as the "Mayor of Autumn Care" where he has resided for over ten years. As Autumn Care became Freddie's home, his fellow residents, the staff members, and many visitors, all became his family and friends. He was loved, cared for, and entertained by those entrusted with his needs. Freddie loved those with whom he shared his life, and his family will always be grateful for the wonderful care he received and friendships he enjoyed.

Freddie is survived by his brothers, Wayne Joyner and wife, Martha Ann of Beulaville and Ronnie Joyner and wife, Sandra of Rocky Mount; aunts, Becky White of Rocky Mount and Betsy Jarrett of Sussex Courthouse, Va.; along with several nieces, nephews, and his Autumn Care family.

A graveside service will be held on Friday, July 7, 2023 at 11:00am at Pineview Cemetery, Rocky Mount with Merle Hendricks officiating. The family will receive friends prior to the service beginning at 10:30am.
