Rocky Mount -

Former North Carolina resident, Gerald Allen Law, 74, died January 10, 2022, at Nash General Hospital in Rocky Mount, North Carolina.  An Evening Visitation will be from 6:30 PM to 8:00 PM on Friday, January 14, 2022, at Rocky Mount Church of the Nazarene located at 1530 Hunter Hill Road, Rocky Mount, NC.  A visitation will be from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM on Saturday, January 15, 2022, at Rocky Mount Church of the Nazarene followed by a service beginning at 11:00 AM.

Mr. Law was born June 17, 1947, in Akron, Ohio to George and Lilian Law.

During Mr. Law's childhood, he lost his father.  His mother re-married and he was raised by his stepfather, Francis Shankle.

Mr. Law served in the United States Air Force, from 1965 through 1969, as a chaplain's assistant.

Mr. Law started working after the Air Force as a drafts man until he was called into the ministry.  Mr. Law moved from Akron, Ohio to Colorado Springs, Colorado, where he studied to be a minister at Nazarene Bible College.  While studying ministerial studies, he was called to start a house church in Portland, Oregon.  He later returned to Nazarene Bible College and completed his studies.  Upon graduation, he returned to Akron, Ohio until called to pastor a church Portage, PA.  He was pastor at Portage from 1984 to 1988.  Mr. Law left Portage to pastor a church in Jefferson, PA.  He pastored at Jefferson from 1988 to 1993.  He left pastoring at Jefferson, and moved to California, PA, to attend California State University of PA to study counseling.  Mr. Law Graduated with a master's degree in Counseling and Geriatric Studies. He started having health issues and was not able to return to full time ministry.  He supply pastored for a Wesleyan Church from 1995 to 1999.  In 2003 Mr. Law moved to Zebulon, NC to be closer to his daughter and grandchildren.  Mr. Law volunteered at Rocky Mount Church of the Nazarene working with their Prime Time group.  Mr. Law eventually moved to Rocky Mount, to be closer to the church, where his wife became associate pastor.  Mr. Law officially retired from the ministry but continued to help as his health allowed.

Mr. Law is survived by his wife of 51 years, Marlene; daughter, Angela Helbig; grand-daughters, Ashley and Elizabeth Helbig. Condolences may be sent to 3916 Billy Hopkins Rd, Zebulon, NC 27597.
