Guildaroy Baker

Guildaroy Baker, age 104, passed away peacefully on Friday, June 5, 2026. Her journey began in Brunswick County, North Carolina on October 23, 1921.

She was preceded in death by her husband of seventy years, Vernon Baker; son, Bradford Baker; sisters, Betty Ellis and Edna Greer and brothers, Archie Henry, Leon Henry and Tom Henry.

Guildaroy is survived by her son, Van Baker (Bruce Riddle) of Rocky Mount; devoted caregiver whom she loved as a daughter, Gloria Smith of Scotland Neck; former daughter-in-law, Susan Baker; grandson, Kodie Baker; along with two great-grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and other extended relatives.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, June 11, 2026 at West Haven Presbyterian Church, 1001 W Haven Blvd, Rocky Mount, NC 27803 with Reverend Preston Smith officiating. The family will greet friends immediately following the service.

The family would like to acknowledge the outstanding care and concern of Guildaroy’s many caregivers who have become like family: Vanessa Wiggins, Jackie Irons, Doretha Davis, Lashonda Johnson, Mattie Davis, Juanita Wiggins and Mary Smalls.
