Nashville –

Hassell Quemby Sherrod, age 91, went Home to be with his Lord and Savior Saturday, January 25, 2025. His journey began on July 23, 1933 in Nash County, son of Thomas and Betty Sherrod. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Mary, Beulah, Curtis, Elgie, Earl, Mabel, Jerrdin.

He leaves a lifetime of memories for his wife, Rebecca Fuller Duke Sherrod; daughter, Gail Sherrod Greene (Danny) of Shelby; sons, Hassell Wayne Sherrod (Stephanie Elaine Ennis) of Sharpsburg and Samuel Carl Duke of Rocky Mount and brothers, Wesley Sherrod (Betty) and Oscar Sherrod.

Hassell was especially proud of and adored his grandchildren, Kari Leigh Strickland, Chadwick Ross Davis (Laura), Keith Wayne Sherrod (Miranda), Amber Nicole Sherrod and Tegan Paine and great-grandchildren, Trevor Wayne Sherrod, Hunter Ross Davis, Camden Max Davis and Eli Davis Strickland.

He will also be missed by several nieces, nephews and other extended relatives.

A service with military honors will be held at 12:00pm on Thursday, January 30, 2025 at Davis-Little Funerals, 2129 Lawrence Circle, Rocky Mount, NC. Interment will follow at Rocky Mount Memorial Park, 4454 Dortches Blvd, Rocky Mount. The family will receive friends prior to the service beginning at 11:00am.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, or by mailing donations to 225 N. Michigan Ave., Fl. 17, Chicago, IL 60601.
