Helen Harrell Raynor, known affectionately by her family and friends as "Doodle Bug", departed this life on Sunday, August 11, 2024. She was born on October 26, 1937 in Nash County, daughter of Johnnie Roscoe Harrell and Betty Jackson Harrell. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Wilton Ray Raynor; daughter, Nancy Glancy; grandson, Chris Garris; sisters, Nita Harrell, Irene Casto and Lula Griffin Tharrington; and brothers, Grover Harrell, Tommy Harrell, Marvin Harrell and Bennie Harrell.

Helen leaves a lifetime of memories for her daughter, Debbie Garris of the home; sister, Christine Peace (Doug); grandchildren, Shawn Porter (Gene), Jamie Glancy, Roderick Garris and Derrick Garris (Reava); great-grandchildren, Rayna, Noah, Hannah, Chloe, Brady, Lydia, Vanna, Stevie, Hunter, Cooper, Heyden, Brayden and Brysen; along with many other extended relatives.

Helen was a dedicated employee with Boddie-Noell, Inc. for thirty years. She was also a member of Parkwood Baptist Church in Rocky Mount and taught Sunday school and worked in the nursery for many years. As long as she was able, she loved attending the DMA meetings at Parkwood. She loved nothing more than spending time with her family, especially her great-grandchildren. Helen had a love for reading and learning and will be dearly missed by her family, friends, and Parkwood Baptist Church family.

A memorial service will be held at 6:30pm on Thursday, August 15, 2024 at RiverBend Church, 9853 NC-97, Rocky Mount, NC 27803. The family will receive friends prior to the service beginning at 5:30pm, and other times at the home.
