"You should remember the words of the Lord Jesus: 'It is more blessed to give than to receive.'" Acts 20:35

Tarboro -

Following ninety-four years of cherished memories, our precious mother, Jackie O'Neal, peacefully slipped away from us and into the presence of her Savior, Thursday afternoon, January 22, 2026, with her devoted family by her side.

A journey that began in Washington County, North Carolina, Jackie was born on January 6, 1932, to Vance W. and Frances Phelps Link.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of sixty-two years, Paul "Tink" O'Neal; sisters, Corinne Lewis, Doris Quinn and Frances Murray; and daughter-in-law, Jo Waters O'Neal.

Jackie grew to become a devoted daughter, sister, wife, mother, and MaMa. She enjoyed a successful career with Carolina Telephone Company that spanned more than thirty years, making many lasting friendships along the way. As a devoted and very active member of Speed Baptist Church for 50+ years, Jackie forged many loving relationships with her church family that carried her through the years. When the time came and she decided it was no longer safe for her to drive and unable to attend, she deeply missed the fellowship and worship that had been such a special and foundational part of her life.

Jackie was known for her remarkable strength and the values she instilled in us. She lived a full life, dedicated to her family, and enjoying every moment she had with us. We will never forget the love and happiness she brought to our lives. We will always be grateful to be your children.

Jackie was a tremendous comfort and inspiration for those who loved her, especially her children, Glenn O'Neal, Jr. of Tarboro, Frankie Rose (Bobby) of Crisp and Jo Roberson (Carl) of Speed; brother, Vance Link, Jr. of Apex; grandchildren, Rusty Kiser (Dawn) of Tarboro and Cory Rose (Wilter) of Charlotte; great-grandchildren, Wyatt and Blythe Kiser; and dear friend and caregiver, Debbie Morris of Mildred; as well as many nieces, nephews, family friends and other extended relatives.
