Tarboro –

James Earl Hollis, age 69, passed away Sunday, January 21, 2024 at Inova Hospital in Alexandria, Virginia. He was born on May 2, 1954 in Martin County to William Earl and Catherine Davenport Hollis. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, William Hollis and brother, Claude Hollis.

He is survived by his loving wife of forty-three years, Teresa Hollis; daughters, Jami Gay (Allan) and Chastity Myers, all of Tarboro; sister, Gladys Owens (Lee) of Tarboro; brother, Jerry Hollis (Carolyn) of Macclesfield; special friend, Tyrone Cobb and numerous nieces, nephews, and other extended relatives.

James was a proud grandfather to Hailey, Chloe and Jase Gay, Joshua Myers (Christen), Dustin Myers and Cody Kennedy and great-grandfather to Maverick Myers and a baby boy due in February.

A private memorial will be held at a later date.
