Nashville –
James "Harold" Strickland, age 92, went Home to be with his Lord and Savior Sunday, August 18, 2024 at Autumn Care of Nash in Nashville, North Carolina. His journey began in Nash County on September 3, 1931, son of Charlie Rufus and Bessie Manning Strickland. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant daughter; sister, Esther Perkerson and brother, Charlie Rufus "Pete" Strickland, Jr.
He leaves a lifetime of treasured memories for his wife, Glendora Strickland; sons, James Glenn "Jimmy" Strickland (Robin) of Nashville and Jeffrey "Jeff" Strickland (Wendy) of Spring Hope; daughter, Robin Strickland Manning (Tim) of Wendell; brother, Eugene Strickland; sister, Barbara Davis; along with several nieces, nephews and other extended relatives.
Harold especially adored and loved to spend time with his grandchildren, Glenn Strickland (Susanne), Leigh Anne Moody (Josh), Alley Lomeli (Jake), Linda Pearce, and Langley Strickland and great-grandchildren, Page Strickland, Emma Branch, Scarlet Lomeli, Parker Strickland, Harleigh Moody and Sonny Lomeli.
Harold dedicated thirty years to Heilig Meyers Furniture Company as a warehouse manager. In his spare time, he loved to garden and spend time outside. Harold was a devoted husband, father, brother, grandfather and great-grandfather and was happiest surrounded by his loved ones, especially his grandchildren. Above all, Harold loved the Lord and is rejoicing at the throne of Jesus!
A service will be held at 1:00pm on Wednesday, August 21, 2024, at Tabernacle of Praise, 1279 E Old Spring Hope Road, Nashville, NC 27856 with Reverend Ray Vick officiating. Burial will follow at Oakdale Cemetery in Spring Hope. The family will receive friends prior to the service beginning at 11:00am.
