IN LOVING MEMORY OF
James "Brian"
Williams, Sr.
April 15, 1963 – June 25, 2024
Rocky Mount -
James Brian Williams, our beloved, husband, father, son, papa, great papa, brother, cousin, friend and co-worker passed away peacefully at his childhood home on June 25, 2024 at the age of 61. He was born in Edgecombe County on April 15th, 1963, to Luby and Lois Williams. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his grandparents; a dear uncle, James Smith; niece, Danielle Carpenter and sister in-law, Cathy Sweat.
He is remembered by his wife of thirty-eight years, Dixie ¨DeeDee¨ Williams; sons, Allen Jordan and James Brian Williams, Jr. (Suzanne); daughter, Crystal Jones (Brandon); mother, Lois Williams; sisters, Teresa Williams (Calvin) and Gwen Williams (Van); sister-in-law, Angie Carpenter and brother-in-law, Steve Sweat.
Brian was a proud Papa to his six grandchildren and absolutely loved having them around and spending his spare time with them: AJ (Serenity), Suzanne, Michael, Gracie, Tate, Kinsley and great-grandson, Oakley. Brian also had a special four legged pal, Skeeter, whom he loved like a son.
Brian will also be dearly missed by his nieces and nephews, Timothy (Amanda), Kevin (Logan), Caitlyn (Nick), Jaida, Dusty, Christina and Jennifer; great nieces and nephews, Levi, Allie, Hudson, Hayes, Tommy, Hayden and Destinee; along with several aunts, uncles, cousins and other extended family members.
Brian was a dedicated employee with the City of Rocky Mount for the past twenty-three years. Prior to that, he was a backhoe operator with contractors through the railroad systems and in younger years, a farmer of the land where he learned his extended work ethics. He was a one of a kind husband, son, father and grandfather. His family by all means was top priority to him. He enjoyed vacations with his family to the mountains, fishing, and hanging out with his cattle herd, as if they were his children. He will be truly missed by all lives he has had the opportunity to touch.
The family would like to offer words of gratitude and thanks to special friends, Michael Williams and Timmy Manning, from the bottom of our hearts for all the times throughout their many years of friendship that they were always willing to lend a special hand to our loved one without fail. Your kindness meant more than we could ever begin to express.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, June 27, 2024, from 6-8pm at Davis-Little Funerals, 2129 Lawrence Circle, Rocky Mount, NC 27804 and other times at the home of Lois Williams. A service will be held on Friday, June 28 at 2:00pm, at Oakview Baptist Church, 2412 Arlington St. Rocky Mount, NC with Pastor David Taylor and Pastor Tim Smith officiating. Interment will immediately follow at Rocky Mount Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Oakview Baptist Church.
