Jameson Cox

November 16, 1990 — April 13, 2026

Pinetops –

James Walter “Jameson” Cox, II, age 35, passed away Monday, April 13, 2026. He was born in Pitt County on November 16, 1990. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, James Asby and Violet Pridgen Cox and beloved uncle, Joel Harrell.

He is survived by his parents, Jimmy Cox of Wilson and Margaret Harrell Cox of Tarboro; siblings, Zachary Cox and Mallori Cox, both of Tarboro and maternal grandparents, Mel and Annette Harrell, also of Tarboro.

Jameson will also be missed by his uncles, Bruce Cox, Robert Cox and Erie Harrell; special aunts, Carolyn Cox Williams (Jay) and Jennifer Ward Harrell; cherished lifelong friends, Dusty Doughtie, Dillon Parker, Trevor Heffley and Westley Webb; along with many family friends and other extended relatives.

Jameson will be remembered most for his infectious smile and contagious laughter. He was fun loving, witty and took great pride in making everyone around him happy. From a young age he was very bright and had a knack for getting things done. His loyalty and commitment to his family, friends and even strangers were unwavering.

He was happiest at his “homestead” in the country surrounded by his family, numerous dogs and farm animals. His farm grew by never turning away a stray and not knowing how to tell his mom and sister “no”. He researched and perfected gardening and propagation to beautify not only his property, but to share with his neighbors and friends.

He received great joy from helping neighbors and friends. And he thrived on cooking for and filling everyone’s bellies. His sense of adventure was fulfilled by traveling for his telecommunications job and meeting new people. He would return home and continue friendships with coworkers and customers across multiple states. Jameson never met a stranger; he could talk to anyone for hours. He was never too busy for a friend.

The family will host a celebration of Jameson’s life for his extended family and close friends at a later date.
