Halifax –

Jannell J. Best, age 86, passed away peacefully Thursday, March 21, 2024 in her home, surrounded by her loving family. Her journey began in Halifax County, North Carolina on January 7, 1938 to Joseph Jordan, Jr. and Rosa Carroll Jordan. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of sixty-one years, Thomas E. "Ed" Best.

She leaves a lifetime of memories for her daughters, Sharon Keene of Georgia, Melissa Ferguson of Enfield and Tommie Jan Best of Georgia; granddaughter, Hunter Ray Ferguson of Wilmington along with many friends and other extended relatives.

Jannell possessed an extraordinary ability to cultivate a wide array of plants, ranging from vibrant vegetables to exquisite flowers. Her green thumb was truly remarkable, as she effortlessly nurtured and flourished anything that came under her care. Cultivating flowers, nurturing greenery and tending to the natural world brought joy and tranquility to her. Jannell had a profound gratitude for the wonders of God's creations and served as a beacon of light for her family. Her absence will be deeply felt by all those who held her dear.

A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, March 26, 2024 at 11:00am at Crestview Memorial Cemetery, 489 Smith Church Rd, Roanoke Rapids, NC. The family will receive friends immediately following the service.
