Obituary

Elm City -

Jennifer "J.J." Daughtridge Vaughan, age 53,  passed away Monday afternoon, April 28, 2025 at Nash UNC Health Care in Rocky Mount, North Carolina. She was born in Edgecombe County on September 26, 1971 and was preceded in death by her mother, Joyce Williams Daughtridge and father, John "J.W." Daughtridge.

She is survived by her loving husband of thirty-three years, Brian Vaughan; sons, Clay Vaughan and Noah Vaughan (Caroline Denton), all of Elm City; sister, Marilyn Coble (Tammy Spellman) of Raleigh; along with many friends, her Anchor Insurance family, and other extended relatives. She will also be missed by her beloved Chow, Coco, grand-dog, Scottie, and seven very fortunate cats who were rescued by J.J. and her family.

A beloved wife, mother, and friend, J.J. was perfectly described with these wonderful words from Anchor Insurance:

"For many years, JJ was a pillar of Anchor Insurance, dedicating herself wholeheartedly to her work and setting an example of commitment and kindness. She was known for her unwavering devotion to her customers, always going above and beyond to help those who trusted her, and she was equally beloved by all her coworkers who had the privilege of working by her side.

Outside of work, JJ lived life to the fullest and shared her joy with everyone around her. She was an avid reader of romance novels who often exchanged book recommendations and heartfelt stories with friends. She also loved cruising with the love of her life, Brian, cherishing their adventures at sea and the memories they made together. Above all, JJ was a proud mother to her two wonderful sons, Clay and Noah, and she was a cherished friend to so many. Her warmth and generosity touched countless lives, both within our company and in the wider community.

JJ's passing leaves a deep and profound void in our Anchor Insurance family. Our office will never be the same without her infectious laughter and bright smile. We will forever remember the genuine care she showed to every person she met and the positive energy she brought into every room. JJ was more than just a colleague – she was family, and her memory will live on in the stories we share and the lessons of kindness and dedication she taught us."

In keeping with J.J.'s love and commitment to helping animals, in lieu of flowers, memorial donations should be made to Tarboro Trap, Neuter and Return, PO Box 342, Tarboro, NC 27886 – OR – Purrfect Hearts Cat Rescue, PO Box 3047, Wilson, NC 27895
