Elm City –

Jerry Wayne Walston of Elm City, North Carolina, passed away on Monday, March 1, 2021 at the age of 80.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Frances Bridgers Walston; son, Michael "Mike" Walston, Sr. and wife, Karen; grandchildren, Nicole and Anthony Walston, all of Lakeland, Florida, and Michael Walston, Jr. of Fort Myers, Florida; sister, Joan Fenn of North Port, Florida; those he counts as his brothers and sisters and their families, Pete Bridgers and wife, Susan, Wallace Bridgers and wife, Cherye, Margarette Bridgers, all of Elm City, and Ann Bridgers Causey of Pinetops. He will also be deeply missed by many nieces, nephews, friends, Gethsemane church family, and special friends, Allen Bradshaw and Kent Thorne.

He was a good, loving, faithful husband, Dad, and Pa. His life's work was being a skilled machinist that he enjoyed. He was a U.S. Navy Veteran, serving in the Navy Seabees.

He was preceded in death by an infant son; his father, Russell Walston and mother, Katherine Webb Walston; and sister, Patricia Walston.

A service will be held for the immediate family (due to Covid-19) at Gethsemane Independent Baptist Church with Pastor Johnny Taylor officiating on Saturday, March 6th, 2021 at 2:00 PM. Burial will follow at Evergreen Memorial Gardens.
