IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Jim
Snedeker
January 3, 1954 – December 6, 2024
Pinetops -
James Robert Snedeker, affectionately known by family and friends as "Jim", "J.R." and "U.J.", peacefully finished his journey here on earth Friday evening, December 6, 2024.
Jim was born January 3, 1954 in Chicago, Illinois to Donald J. and Jacqueline M. Snedeker. He lived an interesting life, complete with ups and downs, laughter and tears, and many adventures. He found his way to North Carolina and happily made his home in Pinetops and married Paula, who had lovingly become his best friend and life partner. He was devoted to his family and loved them all dearly. One of his more notable passions was the 12-Step Narcotics Anonymous Program which was instrumental in Jim becoming the man we all knew and cherished.
While Jim experienced many challenges in his life, once he dedicated himself to becoming clean and healthy, he followed through with an unshakable commitment. He understood the importance of having a safe and supportive group environment to focus on sobriety and a better quality of life. He helped to start an NA group in Illinois, which still continues meeting and helping people today. As Jim worked through his own personal commitment, he didn't let anything keep him from attending meetings and continually working to better himself. He was a much beloved husband, father, brother, uncle, granddaddy, and dear friend who will be greatly missed.
In addition to his parents, Jim was preceded in death by a brother, Donald J. Snedeker, Jr. and step-son, William "Will" Taylor, II. He leaves his loving wife of eight years, Paula Padgett Snedeker; son, James R. "Jim" Snedeker, Jr. wife, Chris and grandsons Teddy and Jack of Indiana; sister, Jean Marie Bolt and husband, David of Illinois; special niece whom he loved as his daughter, Melinda Bunn and husband, Charles of Battleboro; nephews, Joseph Zaid and family, Jimmy Zaid and family, Greg McNeill, Jon McNeill and family, and Chase "Roo" McNeill, along with many family friends and other extended relatives. He will also be deeply missed by Paula's children, Tiffany Taylor and Cameron Cherry, and grandchildren, Alana, Melanie, JJ, Jayden, and Damon.
Please join family and friends for a Special Time of Remembrance as we gather to fellowship and remember Jim together: 6-8pm, Wednesday, December 11, 2024 at Davis-Little Funerals, 2129 Lawrence Circle, Rocky Mount, NC 27804
